This pair of French Model 1816 flintlock officer's pistols are in the condition collectors love to see. Each pistol is approx. 14" long. Each has a 7 7/8" round 68 caliber smooth bore barrel with an excellent bore. Each is finished in the bright and exhibits very little staining. Each is marked Mle 1816 on the barrel tang and Mre Rle de Mutzig (Royal Manufactory of Mutzig) on the lock. The barrels are stamped on the left rear with a crown over P inspection mark, 1822, and a sunk crown over S mark, and, on the right rear, with a script T within a diamond. The brass nose caps, trigger guards, and butt cap are fine with an even aged patina. The stocks are excellent with fine checkering, sharp edges, light usage wear, no cracks or chips, and a crown over P inspection stamp at the tail of the left flat. The ramrods are present. The actions function properly. This super pair of French officer's pistols is fit for the finest collection.
