Commonly called the "Root Model", this revolver was produced from 1855 to circa 1870. This is a Model 3 with 3.5" octagon barrel with an excellent bore, Hartford address with the pointing hand motif, 28 caliber, and full fluted cylinder with a clear patent marking. With the exception of the gold-washed cylinder, this revolver is silver plated. Most of the silver plate has tarnished but but is present except for edges and high points. The ivory grips are fine with checkering at the bottom edge and rear corner. Included in the case are the correct Colt-marked brass mold with sprue cutter, a two-sided Colts Patent eagle powder flask, a cleaning rod, several loose balls, and the key. The case is in excellent condition with intact partitions. This is an unusual and somewhat rare combination finish cased Model 3 Root Revolver.
