Cartridge Antique Long Guns

Serial number 13813. Made in 1886. 45-70 caliber with a 28” barrel. This gun has been refinished long ago. Approximately 90% of the blue remains on the barrel and 80% of the blue on the frame. The butt stock has repairs and the left hand side has been recheckered.  Action works well and bore is dark with strong rifling.

Single-shot rifle with 24" octagonal barrel. These rifles were manufactured from 1876-1891. The bore has good rifling and is frosty in the grooves. The barrel has 98% of its original blue finish. The action works perfectly. The receiver is factory nickel plated. The buttstock is good with some wear and two very old hairline cracks that will not be a problem since this is a .22LR rifle....

Serial number 1309. 44 caliber with a 26” barrel. Nice sharp gun with a smooth even patina. Action works well. Bore is excellent. Wood is very good.

Serial Number 1325. Made in 1880s. 44-77 caliber with a 30” barrel. Very sharp gun with 95% toni9ng blue on the barrel. Frame is nice and sharp with mostly gray patina with some concentration of case colors on the left hand side of the frame. Wood is very good. Action works well. Bore is excellent.

Serial Number 32143. Made in 1865. 52 caliber with a 21” barrel. Nice sharp gun with a light brown patina. The wood is very good. The left hand side of the stock has the initials “ES” carved into it. The frame is mostly a gray to brown patina. The lock has a fair amount of the case colors. The action works perfectly. Bore is excellent with a few spots of pitting.

Made early 1880s. 45-70 caliber with a 20” barrel. This gun is in very fine condition with 90% of the original blue finish. Wood is very good. Action work well. Bore is excellent. Gas hole on the top of the receiver has been enlarged.

Serial number C38771. 50-70 caliber caliber with a 28” barrel. Barrel and forearm have been shortened into a sporting rifle configuration. Metal has a gray patina. Left hand side of the barrel has the Springfield alteration number. Very interesting Sharps converted to a Sporting Rifle!

Made circa 1876 – 1891. 45-70 caliber with a 30” barrel. The metal has a dark gray patina ion the metal. Wood is very good. This gun has the original tang sight. Ramrod is a replacement. Action works well. Bore is excellent. 

Serial number 304. 46 caliber with a 25” barrel. This gun has a dark brown patina. The frame is mostly gray. Wood is very good. Tang sight is not present. Bore is very good. These are fairly scarce model made in the 1860s with less than 2000 of these guns made.

Serial number 8048. 50 caliber with a 30” barrel. Metal has an even light gray to brown patina. Wood is very fine. Action works ell. Bore is very good. Very fine gun in the best caliber!

The Evans Repeating Rifle Company, Mechanic Falls, ME, manufactured approx. 3,000 New Model Sporting Rifles between 1877 and 1879, only a few which had the "EVANS SPORTING RIFLE" barrel marking like this one. Fewer than 200 of the Whitney Excelsior rifles were made from 1866 to 1870. The overall length is approx. 45.5". This interesting French Tabatiere shotgun started life as a 17.8mm smooth bore flintlock musket. It was next rifled and altered to percussion. This late Marlin model 1889 rifle was factory assembled using a model 1894 barrel with the Aug. 1, 1893 patent date, probably as part of a parts clean up.
